Following a recent fake swatting that took place Saturday August 1st, well known League of Legends player and streamer for Twitch was recently banned from streaming for 4 months.
Many people have been swatted whilst streaming, just so one viewer could get a laugh. A few months ago, a young teen pleaded guilty to 23 accounts of swatting. When someone calls out a swat, their intent is to have law officials show up at the streamers house in hopes of having them arrested, and all of this is done for ”fun”. It isn’t.
Trick’s manager had a few things to say regarding the matter, which she found to be all in good fun.
“There is always someone that thinks only their sense of humor is what matters and if they don’t think it is funny then it couldn’t possibly be. That is why our Country is in the shape it is now, because we fear making light of anything that might be thought of as controversial.”
Having a sense of humor is great. it’s necessary for entertainers, such as Trick. But faking a swatting, no matter how hilarious they might think it is, isn’t all that great. Because it’s actually happening to people all the time on streams.
League of Legends players SaintVicious and Dexter bantered about it on Twitter:
Supporters of Trick2g are currently attempting to get #FREETRICK trending, but nothing will sway Twitch’s decision in the matter.
