Lego: Jurassic World and Batman: Arkham Knight lead sales in US for July
Although Sony's PlayStation 4 has maintained its poll position for top-selling console for July, the latest software list from the NPD group shows that there is still a surprising market in Microsoft's Xbox 360.The number one selling game, in physical copies, was Lego: Jurassic World, another addition to the growing list of movie to Lego adaptations. However it was noted by the NPD was that despite Lego: Jurassic World being the 'highest-selling game on a unit sales basis,' Batman Arkham Knight would have outsold it 'if sales were included from hardware bundles.'

The number one selling game, in physical copies, was Lego: Jurassic World, another addition to the growing list of movie to Lego adaptations. However it was noted by the NPD was that despite Lego: Jurassic World being the ‘highest-selling game on a unit sales basis,’ Batman Arkham Knight would have outsold it ‘if sales were included from hardware bundles.’
As far as new releases goes, Rory McIlroy PGA Tour was the best selling; the NPD states that for sales within the first month, this game did better than its predecessor ‘ Tiger Woods PGA Tour 14, by close to 70 percent.’
The most interesting thing about the Lego game hitting the top spot wasn’t the game itself, it was the platform that came out on top as most selling. Sure, we’ve been having the PS4 vs. Xbox One war for a year now, but it was found that the lead platform for the Lego game was actually the Xbox 360.
The top selling console for new physical software sales, behind the PS4, was the Xbox 360 – though the NPD supposes that it’s due to Microsoft’s announcement at E3 about backwards compatibility on the Xbox One.
Below is a list of the full top 10 physical retail sales for July. Next to each title is a list of platforms in the order they sold best on.
- LEGO: Jurassic World (360, 3DS, PS3, XBO, NWU, PS4, PSV)
- Batman: Arkham Knight (PS4, XBO, PC)
- Minecraft (360, PS3, XBO, PS4)
- Grand Theft Auto V (PS4, XBO, 360, PS3, PC)

There will be some obvious favorites clinging to the top ten charts even in the months to come (largely due to the lack of anything new) but things are going to get interesting as we hit fall, with several big names due to release like Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3.
