Gamescom brought with it plenty of announcements, including Microsoft’s Halo 5: Guardians reveal of a new map and an upcoming Halo tournament with a hefty prize pool.
The new map for Halo 5 is titled ‘Coliseum’ and features both close quarter and long distance combat. A demonstration on 4v4 Capture-the-Flag was shown at Microsoft’s conference, with players having to use jetpacks to navigate through the areas of the map. The gameplay looks pretty awesome, and you can check it out here if you haven’t seen it.
Microsoft also came out with the prospect of a Halo World Championship, where you could win a cool $1 million. Although no dates have been confirmed as of yet, the tournament already has the title of the ‘biggest investment in Xbox eSports history’. What the Championship is going to entail and how you can get involved will no doubt be revealed shortly, so keep an eye out if you think you’re in with a chance of winning.
Halo 5: Guardians launches in October on Xbox One and I can’t wait to get my hands on it. For more on what to expect from Halo 5 plus other Gamescom news, check out the respective tags below.
