Showcasing Star Wars Battlefront today at Gamescom, DICE released the newest gameplay trailer for the game, highlighting a new game mode, Fighter Squadron. Entirely composed of ship combat, the matches involve a mix of players and AI, 10 of each on each team, blasting it out in chaotic fighter battles.
In the trailer, first and third person views were shown as X-Wings, Tie Fighters, A-Wings, Tie Interceptors, and finally even the hero ships of the Millennium Falcon and Slave-1 entered the fray over the planet of Sullust, one of the 4 planets being used in Star Wars Battlefront. The action centers around an imperial shuttle the Rebels are fighting to destroy and the Imperials are fighting to protect, mixing things up beyond a simple deathmatch.
While it is unclear how much of the trailer was actual gameplay, if the final game looks this good, it will be quite the experience. Star Wars Battlefront launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC on November 17th.
