Earlier this week at Gamescom, Microsoft announced that Xbox One owners will get exclusive, early access to Homefront: The Revolution’s co-op demo when it drops this winter.
Homefront: The Revolution’s story starts four years into a North Korean occupied America where resistance fighters in a bombed out and war-torn Philadelphia are forced to use guerrilla warfare against the occupying forces. In the co-op mode, players team up into rebel cells to fight back against the North Korean forces.
Microsoft also presented a gameplay demo at Gamescom featuring the single-player mode. The game did a great job of demonstrating the overwhelming feeling of being part of an under-equipped resistance by having a small group of fighters use beaten up old weapons to engage in battles with the overpowering high-tech army. It’ll be interesting to see how the underdog theme holds up throughout the game. If done well, it’ll be a nice change of pace for the shooter genre. You can watch the six and a half minute demo here.
Homefront: The Revolution will be released on Xbox One, PS4, and PC in 2016.
