Dying to play Destiny: The Taken King?
Bungie has revealed that when a patch is released for Destiny next Tuesday, the new Crucible maps and modes will be available to players an entire week before The Taken King expansion is released.
When the patch goes live on September 8, all Destiny owners will be able to preview the new Crucible content. However, when The Taken King is released on September 15, only those who then purchase the expansion will retain access to the content.
“If you’ve bought Destiny, whether you’ve pre-ordered The Taken King or not, we’re sending you into the Crucible to experience new modes of battle on every brand new map,” Community Manager David Dague wrote in the Bungie Weekly Update. “One thing to note: You won’t have the use of your new Super abilities yet. You’ll have to visit your class Vanguard in The Taken King to earn your new subclass. For now, though, you can and should check out the new slate of maps on offer, and two of the new modes.”
In other Destiny news, earlier this week it was revealed the new raid included in The Taken King will not be playable at launch, but it was revealed today that players won’t have to wait too long for it – it will be available on September 18.
