Pikmin 3 released on the Wii U back in 2013. It has now been confirmed that a fourth installment in the series is in development.
Speaking to Eurogamer in an interview last July just disclosed this week, Shigeru Miyamoto has announced that Pikmin 4 is in development. “It’s actually very close to completion,” Miyamoto stated. “Pikmin teams are always working on the next one.”
Miyamoto also confirmed the news to Eurogamer in a separate statement. “We can confirm that Pikmin 4 is in development but that is all we can confirm at present.”
Miyamoto did not say what platform Pikmin 4 would be released on. Nintendo’s next platform, code named the “NX”, is in development, though details will not be release until sometime in 2016. There is no word yet on when the NX may be launched.
Pikmin 3 released in August 2013 on the Wii U. The game received positive reviews, though fans had to wait nine years after the release of Pikmin 2.
