Massimo Guarini, best known for directing Shadows of the Damned, has received a $1.6 million investment for his independent Italian development studio, Ovosonico. The investment came from Digital Bros., an Italian company that owns 505 games.

Most recently, Ovosonico released Murasaki Baby on the PlayStation Vita in 2014. Guarini explained his desire to “consolidate assets and sustain growth as a fully independent studio” and to continue “pursuing our vision and creating what we really love and care about”, which he calls “emotional games”.

He explains, “Emotional games are a meaningful way for us to create something more universal and workless, as we’re constantly trying to connect with a broader audience of humans, not just gamers. We believe this will have a huge impact on the market in the years to come, and through this important partnership we believe we will have the right means to pursue our vision.”

Raphael Galante, CEO of Digital Bros. said, “We are proud to be able to support the growth of a company that features important traits of the ‘Made in Italy’ dear to us such as uncompromising creativity and the ability to trigger emotions.”

Ovosonico is currently in pre-production on it’s latest game, which has yet to be announced.
