Senior producer, François Pelland, has been speaking about the combat in Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, talking about the focus on concealed weapons to better fit with the time period of Victorian England.

The latest installment to the franchise will be set in a Victorian era London and will bring the focus onto concealed weapons, rather than the larger swords seen in previous Assassin’s Creed titles.  Pelland also mentioned the return of the “Multikill multi-finisher” moves which were seen in Assassin’s Creed III.

“One thing that we realised right at the start was that we’re past the medieval period, so there could be no more swords. We’ve moved into an age where if there was any kind of brawl on the streets, it was making the headlines. So that’s certainly very different from what we saw only 75 years before this period, with the French Revolution. So we wanted to give the combat a more brutal and visceral feel to it, hence the emphasis on concealed weapons. To that end, one of the changes we’ve made to combat is that we’re bringing back the multikill multi-finisher from Assassin’s Creed III.”

Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will be released on October 23rd for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and November 19th for PC.
