Recently Comicbook.com reported that Avengers star Jeremy Renner, who plays Hawkeye, feels a team up between the two super teams is very unlikely. “There’s already a lot of people in the Avengers!” he joked at the Wizard World Chicago panel, before telling the fan who asked about a possible crossover: “You’ll be eighty years by then, and I wouldn’t be Hawkeye anymore. I’ll be dead guy!”
Guardians director James Gunn has also commented on a potential team up. He told ScreenJunkies that although they belonged in the same universe one shouldn’t assume the properties would crossover.
“We really are separate from the Avengers, and I don’t think people should assume too many things about the Guardians play in all this,” he said. “We have our own galaxy to take care of. We have our own galaxy to save. Earth is the Avengers’ province. Thinking that everything is going to come together in a perfect way is not necessarily the way it’s going to happen,” said Gunn.
Marvel Studios’ has announced their movie slate for the next four years. The next Avengers adventure will be the two part Infinity War storyline which are scheduled for the Summers of 2018 and 2019. Guardians of the Galaxy 2 will come to theaters May 5, 2017 with Gunn returning to direct.
