We’re coming up to the 2 year anniversary, and the enthusiasm behind Grand Theft Auto V hasn’t slowed yet from developer Rockstar North. They’ve now said that their full focus for updates from now on are on GTA V’s multiplayer mode, GTA Online, on current-gen consoles and PC; unfortunately for players on the Xbox 360 and PS3 the time may have come where updates have reached their limit.
The upcoming update to GTA V is due to launch on September 15th, it will include Freemode Events and introduces the Rockstar Editor to Xbox One and PS4.
Freemode Events are going to allow players to do new things within the open-world, so you won’t even have to search for a race or anything. Result!
These features, however, are only available on PC, Xbox one and the PS4; the warning Rockstar put out about last-gen systems and not receiving updates is finally happening. The main reason being that the memory capacity on the older systems can’t handle the sheer amount of updated content Rockstar are putting out.
So, PC and newer-gen consoles are now the minimum for Rockstar to work with, allowing future content to be more ambitious. ‘We are now focused on the opportunities provided by the more powerful PS4, Xbox One, and PC–and we’ve got some really fun ideas on how to make the most of these more powerful machines,” design director Imran Sarwar said in an interview with IGN.
It doesn’t look like Rockstar are planning to slow down anytime soon, in fact they’ve said that GTA Online will continue to evolve and change almost indefinitely, ‘as long as people continue to play and enjoy GTA Online.’
