Gary Carr, Creative Director at Lionhead Studios has moved on after 12 years. He played a lead role in the development of Fable: The Journey, Milo & Kate, and The Movies. It seems Carr will be moving on to establish his own independent studio.
In recent years, Carr had been managing new game prototypes and concept IPs for the studio. Lionhead began an incubation initiative in 2014, which studio head John Needham described as “a team of about eight guys we have in the studio who are trying to build the next big IP for us.” As we have not seen apparent results from this initiative, it’s possible the project wasn’t successful leading to Carr’s departure.
In a statement to GameSpot, a Microsoft spokesman said, “Gary has been a great friend and colleague during his tenure at Lionhead, and we appreciate his contributions to the team. We remain focused on the development of Fable Legends and have nothing further to share. We wish Gary the best in his next venture.”
Lionhead’s team is currently focused on the action RPG, Fable Legends. This title will be free-to-play and will release on PC and Xbox One. No release date has been revealed.
