Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has claimed the top spot for last week on the sales charts in the UK, giving Konami their first game at the top of the list for the year of 2015.
Beyond just having an impressive debut, the title sold almost three times as many copies on PS4. Metal Gear Solid V sold 72% of its copies on PlayStation 4 and 22% on Xbox One.
Proving that it is truly just about time to let go of last-gen, Metal Gear Solid V sold 3% of its copies on PlayStation 3 and just 2% on Xbox 360.
The title claimed the third highest sales week of the year so far, earning its spot behind Batman: Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt respectively. Metal Gear Solid V’s sales marked a new high for the series, topping the sales of Metal Gear Solid 2: Sons of Liberty by just under 37%.
Following the game on the list lands Mad Max at number two, Gears of War: Ultimate Edition (Last week’s chart topper), Until Dawn, and Disney Infinity 3.0. Gears of War: Ultimate Edition saw sales fall 64% from the previous week while Until Dawn fell 52%.
