Konami has set it’s sights on dominating the soccer game genre. According to Pro Evolution Soccer’s European manager Adam Bhatti, PES will overtake FIFA in the not-so-distant future.
“We’re definitely catching up with FIFA,” says Bhatti, “And we have to be respectful about that. We have to keep closing that gap. In a couple of years we’ll clearly lead again. But we have to convince a lot of people.”
Bhatti admits that certain aspects, such as rights to particular names and stadiums are out of Konami’s control but, “”But in terms of presentation [and] visuals, we want to be industry-leading.”
Currently, the biggest difference between the two games is that FIFA includes women’s teams. This makes the first time in history that women’s teams have been included in the genre.
