Lead designer on Star Wars Battlefront, Jamie Keen, confirmed to PlayStation Lifestyle that while the game would offer no server browser for the console versions, DICE would still use dedicated servers to offer an “unparalleled” online experience.
“We’ll still have dedicated servers. Absolutely,” confirmed Keen. “It’s one of the hallmarks of making sure we deliver unparalleled online servers for the game.” While the news that a server browser would not be present was met with mixed reactions, this new piece of news should come as a relief to multiplayer shooter fans who know the importance of dedicated servers.
In other recent Battlefront news, it was revealed how the game’s hero system would work and that the game would have its own merchandise. Star Wars Battlefront will have an open beta in early October before its full release on November 17.
