Super Mario Maker is a wonderful celebration of everything that makes a Mario game special. It has the charm, the happiness, and the soul-crushing reality that Waluigi means nothing in a world of Mario. That’s right. Super Mario Maker has taken a much darker twist, one in which Waluigi has to come to terms with the fact that he is nothing and never can be. Heavy stuff for a game in which turtle shells are lethal weapons.
No matter how unfortunate it may seem, this is the reality that Kris (@themaplebeast) has brought forth in his level called Waluigi’s Unbearable Existence.
The level starts off simple enough with a tricky crouch jump mechanic, but it soon takes a turn into the dark void that is Waluigi’s brain. His inner demons manifest themselves in the form of messages written out in floating coins. Seriously, it’s really dark.
