Vermintide is slated for release for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. However, the focus is currently set on the PC version and so the console versions of the game have yet to have a finalized release date. The PC version has been having extensive beta test waves for the last few months to help polish the final game. The next testing period starts on the 2nd of October. Beta invites will start making their rounds on the 30th of September, so make sure you keep an eye out on their official twitter if you’re keen on participating and sign up here.
You can grab the pre-order for Vermintide on steam here for a 10% discount and a week early access before the actual release. The full release game will be $29.99 with the collectors edition being $44.99. The collectors edition will include exclusive cosmetic items for each of the 5 playable classes, a digital HD image of the map, the soundtrack, wallpapers and behind the scenes content.
As mentioned, Vermintide is a 4 player co-op, first person horde mode style action game. It has 5 classes of characters to play as so far with a promise of new characters developed later on as DLC. Each character has a unique melee and ranged weapon that is used to deal with the Skaven horde. The Skaven are a race of chaotic rat-men who have taken over the town of Ubersreik. There is a loot system in place that will add to the replayability of the game and will allow for players to play characters in altered ways that will add some variety.
As disclosure, I managed to get into the beta two weeks ago. I have never played or been introduced to Warhammer in any aspect. However, that didn’t stop me from immersing myself in Vermintide. I’ll be reviewing it when it releases with a proper explanation of content within the game.
