DICE sacrificed resolution for frame rate in Star Wars Battlefront
As the beta for Star Wars Battlefront took place over the weekend, the game received criticism from some fans for its technicalities, specifically it's resolution, which reportedly runs at 900p on PlayStation 4 and at 720p on Xbox One.Technical director for the title, Johan Andersson, claimed developer DICE chose to sacrifice resolution in order to prioritizing reaching a higher frame rate for a better experience for players.

Technical director for the title, Johan Andersson, claimed developer DICE chose to sacrifice resolution in order to prioritizing reaching a higher frame rate for a better experience for players.
Responding to a user on Twitter, Andersson said, “Frame rate and fidelity is indeed king; don’t want to sacrifice it for resolution. But a choice each game team does.”
Technically, the game was hitting 60 frames per second on both the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems, though it can dip slightly during intense moments of gameplay. In a heavily-multiplayer shooter such as Star Wars Battlefront, maintaining a steady frame read is arguably the most important part of development.
The Star Wars Battlefront beta began on October 8 and has now been extended to run until tomorrow October 13.
