Far Cry Primal announced, Spring 2016 release date
After teasing the game extensively, Ubisoft has announced that the next game in the Far Cry franchise will take a rather different approach. Titled Far Cry Primal, the game is set to take place in 10,000 BCE, where players will take on the role of Takkar, “a seasoned hunter and the last surviving member of your group.”“Welcome to the Stone Age,” Ubisoft says, “a time of extreme danger and limitless adventure, when giant mammoths and sabretooth tigers ruled the Earth, and humanity is at the bottom of the food chain. As the last survivor of your hunting group, you will learn to craft a deadly arsenal, fend off fierce predators, and outsmart enemy tribes to conquer the land of Oros and become the Apex Predator.”

Promising to continue the great open-world mechanics of its predecessors, Far Cry Primal introduces a radically new world from the series. “This isn’t the Stone Age you thought you knew. This is the Stone Age with irreverence and mayhem. This is the Stone Age by Far Cry.”
Most surprising of all perhaps, is that the game actually isn’t even that far off, a release date scheduled for PS4 and Xbox One for February 23rd, the same day as Mirror’s Edge Catalyst and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, for anyone keeping track. A PC release will follow the following month. Are you excited for Far Cry’s new direction? Let us know in the comments.
