Microsoft has released the pricing and specs for their new line of Surface Book laptops on their website which will include six different models with varying hard drives, CPUs and pricing.
There are six different models of the Surface Book from the base model which comes with a 128 GB hard drive, Intel Core i5 processor and 8 GB ram which will run $1,499 all the way up to the top-of-the-line model which has a 1 TB hard drive, Intel Core i7 processor, 16 GB ram and a dedicated graphics GPU which will run a whopping $3,199.
The original announcement came earlier this month during a Microsoft Devices presentation. The company aims to make the new 13.5″ laptop, the first the company has ever built, “the ultimate laptop” touting it has “the full punch of a high performance laptop with unprecedented versatility of a tablet.”
The specs back up that claim. The new laptops will feature a 13.5″ Pixelsense touchscreen display with 3,000 x 2,000 resolution, weigh 3.34 pounds and come pre-installed with the new Windows 10 operating system and include a Surface Pen for more accurate registration on the touchscreen. With these specs, Microsoft is claiming the device is two times more powerful than the latest MacBook Pro stating, “This is the future of laptop computing.”
Preorders are available now with sales opening up on October 26th. Although an early strong demand pushed shipping dates back 7 to 8 weeks, all up-to-date shipping dates show a revised estimate of 3 to 7 business days.
