Microsoft reporting Xbox numbers in a new way.
Microsoft did not share the shipment number of their Xbox One console at their earnings announcement on Thursday. This is because, according to the company, they’ll be focusing on Xbox Live ownership figures over console sales numbers in the future.Microsoft announced that their Xbox Live service had 39 million users active in the latest quarter, this was up 28 percent year over year. Following this announcement CEO Satya Nadella added that around half of all Xbox One owners use the Live service every day.

The company is not ruling out talking about console shipment and sales numbers in the future, but going forward they wish to put a greater emphasis on engagement with Xbox Live.
Microsoft’s hardware revenue fell by 17 percent compared to the previous year. This was mainly due to the fewer Xbox 360 owners, according to the company.
