Newest Assassin's Creed gets technical breakdown on console
Ubisoft's latest installment in the Assassin's Creed series officially came out today on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. So, Digital Foundtry did what they did best: looked at both versions of the game and saw how they compared to eachother. Their assessment? Both versions of Assassin's Creed Syndicate are very noticeable improvements over last year's Assassin's Creed Unity, but that's not saying much.Both versions have some similarities. Both versions run at 900p resolution, which Ubisoft promised would be the case for the sake of parity across both machines. Also, the group confirmed in their report that Syndicate has “significantly reduced” technical issues like animation bugs, glitches, freezes and crashes, which when taken alongside Unity's infamously buggy launch is a relief. And in terms of other technical systems, Digital Foundry reported that the PS4 and Xbox One versions are “like for like” in visual terms with anti-aliasing and texture filtering being on par with each other.

So which version is better? Well, according to the techies at DF, it’s the PS4. While both console versions look similar and run a lot better, the deciding factor here is framerate. While both games strive to maintain a benchmark of 30 FPS, dips occur across both consoles but the PS4 version is smoother with reported dips going as far as 27 FPS compared the Xbox One version which is behind by only a few more.
