Sales for the PS4 consoles have been high, topping the charts for console sales the majority of the months since its release, yet Sony isn’t revealing exact numbers for just how many systems have been sold today. SCE Worldwide Studios VP Michael Denny has offered a range of “well over” 25 million consoles sold to date.
“I don’t think there’s a better time to buy into PlayStation–PS4 particularly,” Denny said in an interview with gamesindustry. “Our installed base now is well over 25 million. That gives us a massive community of gamers, supported by a lot of new community features. We’ve got great games out there, more coming through. We’re looking forward to 2016, it’s an exciting time.”
Sony’s next earnings report is scheduled to be revealed tomorrow, October 29. The last official total was reported to be 25.3 million units sold as of June 30, 2015.
The PS4 and Sony have had a big week so far after yesterday’s press conference at Paris Games Week, where they revealed multiple new titles, updates on soon-to-be released titles, and some trailers for games you have been waiting for.
“It’s great to be here. The main point is that Europe as a territory is fantastically important to us and we’re always going to do a big press conference in Europe every year. We’re lucky in that there are so many great games shows to choose from and this year that choice was Paris, which has been fantastic. Previously, it’s been Gamescom, which has also been fantastic. There are no decisions yet on where we’ll be next year.”
