Yu Suzuki, the director of the cult-hit Shenmue series, has recently discussed his ideas for the Kickstarter mega-success Shenmue 3.
In a recent interview, Suzuki went in-depth about everything from the release date for Shenmue 3, the use of Unreal Engine 4, while also speaking on his somewhat tangled relationship with Sony.
When asked about possible talks with Microsoft Execs, Suzuki was quite coy.
“I’ll let you use your imagination on this one,” The Shenmue dev said.
On the technical aspects of the game, Suzuki had much more to say. The game is being developed to run at 30fps, and the PC is the main system of development right now.
“It’s not so simple. The prototypes are being made on PC, but then production shifts to PS4, and then to PC again,” according to Suzuki.
In regards to his relationship with Sega, who technically owns the Shenmue IP, Suzuki spoke candidly.
“I am the one who created Shenmue, so Sega allows me to take decisions for the game. They trust me because I know more about the workings of the game more than anyone else,” the veteran developer said.
Shenmue 3 was announced back in June, and was funded on Kickstarter in less than 2 hours. It is set to release on PS4 and PC.
