Despite what seems to be standard in most of today’s AAA releases, the upcoming Star Wars Battlefront will be one game not to contain microtransactions according to its developer, DICE.
In a recent interview with GameSpot, design director Niklas Fegraeus stressed that no microtransactions asking for real money will be included in the game, stating that they are “not part of the core design.” of Battlefront.
“Well the currency system is based on your game performance, ” Fegraeus said. “The credits that you use to buy things in the game are earned. You play the game, complete challenges, and that’s how you get credits.”
He made clear that the only way to earn “credits” is based on earning them through performance.
“There are several [credit] systems working together here. Just doing things in the game earns you points, and those [points] earn you credits. That’s the baseline system; the more you do, the more credits you get,” he said.”But then there are other systems, such as small challenges for you to complete, and rewards for different actions.”
Star Wars Battlefront doesn’t launch on PS4, Xbox One and PC until November 17, but you can try it out for yourself this week when the beta for the game begins on October 8 and runs until October 12.
