Ubisoft accused of deceptive marketing for Might & Magic
With the recent release of Might & Magic Heroes VII, Ubisoft has been receiving flak for “deceptive marketing”. Ubisoft has responded, apologizing for the confusion that might have stemmed from the marketing materials as well as offering refunds and free games to customers who feel cheated. The issue stemmed from the $100 Collector's Edition bundle. Buyers expected a physical copy of the title, but were disappointed when they only received a digital copy of the PC game. Interestingly, this only applies to United States customers who bought the game through Uplay. Europe’s Collector’s Edition does, in fact, include a physical copy.

The issue stemmed from the $100 Collector’s Edition bundle. Buyers expected a physical copy of the title, but were disappointed when they only received a digital copy of the PC game. Interestingly, this only applies to United States customers who bought the game through Uplay. Europe’s Collector’s Edition does, in fact, include a physical copy.
Ubisoft confirms the bundle was always supposed to include a digital copy of the game, but is offering full refunds and a free game for “any frustration and disappointment”. The free games that are available for people who ordered the Collector’s Edition include Far Cry 4, Assassin’s Creed Rogue, The Crew, Toy Soldiers: War Chest Hall of Fame Edition, and Zombi.
Ubisoft released this statement regarding the situation: “Ubisoft regrets any confusion created by the marketing materials from our Might and Magic Heroes VII Collector’s Edition. We understand that some customers in North America were not aware the Collector’s Edition delivered digital versions of the game and soundtrack. Ubisoft apologizes for any frustration and disappointment resulting from these items being in digital format vs. physical format.”
