Ubisoft announced today that they have acquired The Crew developer Ivory Tower.
Founded in 2007 by developers coming over from Eden Games, creators of another racing game: Test Drive Unlimited, Ivory Tower’s first game, The Crew, had just reached 3 million players.
The game is described as “a revolutionary action-driving MMO, developed exclusively for next-gen consoles and high-end PCs that leverage new hardware capabilities to connect players online like never before.” It did this by having your team battle it out with other teams online in various races and challenges.
“We’ve always enjoyed a very positive relationship with Ubisoft. Working together on The Crew, and celebrating its success, made us both understand that we have huge potential in continuing to work together in the future,” Ivory Tower managing director Ahmed Boukhelifa said. “By joining Ubisoft, the team at Ivory Tower will continue to benefit from Ubisoft’s infrastructure, support, tools, technology, and vision. In return, we will contribute our own expertise to the broader Ubisoft story.”
A closed beta of the expansion titled Wild Run will be open on October 15-19 on PC. Old beta players will be automatically signed up while new players can sign up here. The expansion will officially be released on November 17th.
