Wasteland 2 dev inXile expanding, opening new studio in New Orleans
Following close on the heels of the console release of the developer’s most recent game, Wasteland 2, inXile has announced they plan to expand substantially over the next five years. Opening a new studio in New Orleans, the developers first expansion outside of California where they were founded, inXile currently plans to hire up to 50 new employees for the studio, with an average pay of $75,000 a year. While it appears plans for the new studio started back in July, it has just now been finalized. While there was no long-term plan to move specifically to New Orleans, the decision was made after Brian Fargo, CEO and founder of inXile, met Louisiana economic development officials. The developer was attracted by large incentive programs, including a $10,000 relocation expenses credit.

Currently, inXile is working on their next project, Bard’s Tale IV, which, like the company’s other recent games, Wasteland 2 and Torment, is being funded through Kickstarter. The new studio is set to open later this year.
