Unfortunately for Nintendo, the Wii U has not sold as well as the company had hoped upon release. Some say this is due to lack of great titles for the system. With the release of Super Mario Maker, things could be taking an upward turn for the Wii U.
This week Nintendo shared reported its earning for the last six month period, ending on September 30th. Over that time, they have sold 1.19 million Wii U units, bringing the total over 10 million. In this six month period, they have also earned 204 billion yen as opposed to the 171 billion for the same period last year.
GameSpot reported that Nintendo has credited the success of Splatoon and Super Mario Maker for “vitalizing” Wii U sales. Hopefully with a new year coming soon and even more great titles, Nintendo and the Wii U will fins even more success.
