Before the New Xbox One Experience drops in November, Microsoft has explained how DLC will work for games available via backwards compatibility.
Talking to Game informer, a Microsoft representative explained that the Xbox One won’t emulate the old console’s storefront (at least not for now), so players will have to buy DLC for 360 titles either through their old console or on Xbox.com.
However, any DLC already downloaded or installed will be automatically downloaded alongside backwards compatible titles. The representative told Game Informer that Microsoft will “support both digital and disc-based entitlements for 360 games running on Xbox One.”
In summary, DLC will be supported for backwards compatibility, but you’ll have to pick it up and register it to your account on your old console ahead of downloading the new backwards compatible version on your Xbox One. Head to Game Informer for more details.
Expect the New Xbox One Experience to land on your dashboard November 12. Alongside the backwards compatibility, The New Xbox One Experience brings with it a totally revamped UI and a whole host of other changes, from faster performance to a revamped storefront.
