The new Tomb Raider reboot film has hired its director, Roar Uthaug.
Uthaug, who has previously directed “The Wave,” has signed on to direct Lara Croft’s new adventure on the big screen, which reportedly has been in development for five years according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Geneva Robertson-Dworet is also in negotiations to write the screenplay for the film. Robertson-Dworet wrote the screenplay for Hibernation and was a co-writer on Transformers 5.
The Tomb Raider reboot film will be the first Tomb Raider film since Angelina Jolie starred as Croft in 2001’s Lara Croft: Tomb Raider. The new reboot film is being produced by a collaboration between Warner Bros., MGM and GK Films, the latter of which picked up the rights from Square Enix to produce the film.
No plot details have been revealed for the film at this time, so if you’re looking for your fix of Lara Croft right now, Rise of the Tomb Raider released for Xbox One and Xbox 360 last week. In our review, we said, “Lara’s latest adventure in Rise of the Tomb Raider is a beautiful step-up from 2013’s Tomb Raider reboot. Improving upon its predecessor in almost every way, Rise of the Tomb Raider opens in its first 10 minutes with magnificent scope and pulse-pounding scenery that only grow bigger over its 20-hour campaign.”
