Activision Blizzard to work on Call of Duty movies and Skylanders show
They've all but conquered the world of video games and now Activision Blizzard is setting it's sights on television and movies. The gaming goliath has recently announced that they are opening up a new department within the company called Activision Blizzard Studios which will be dedicated to bringing their swathe of popular titles to life of television and in movies. Nick van Dyk, formerly of Disney, will be leading the studio.The first two projects that have been announced are a series of Call of Duty movies and a Skylanders TV programme. Skylanders Academy will be based on the global toy sensation and features the vocal talents of top celebrities like Justin Long as Spyro, Ashley Tisdale as Stealth Elf, Jonathan Banks as Eruptor, Norm Mcdonald as Glumshanks and Harland Williams and Richard Horvitz as unspecified characters. Futurama show runner, Eric Rogers, will be taking care of the show.

There isn’t as much information about the plans for the Call of Duty franchise however other than that the studio is aiming to create a “robust” cinematic universe set over a series of multiple movies which we can aim to see in cinemas in 2018 and 2019. No further details were disclosed so no information about possible directors or actors tied to the project is available, yet.
Call of Duty and Skylanders make up the initial line up for Activision Studios but the potential for future projects is huge. With brief mentions of Starcraft, Diablo and Hearthstone the future could be great for this studio.
