Fans of the Mass Effect franchise are very familiar with N7 Day. Every November 7th (get it?) developer Bioware celebrates their space RPG series in all of the best ways. The community gets super creative with videos and fan art, discounts on all Mass Effect merchandise happen on the Bioware Store, and it’s just a good time. So leave it to EA to tease things with an official trailer for the next installment, Mass Effect: Andromeda.
The trailer, while rocking quite a bit of nostalgia courtesy of the voice of female Commander Shepherd, Jennifer Hale, isn’t exactly substantial. What we can gleam from the voice-over and the pre-rendered footage it seems the player in this game is going to be exploring outside of the Milky Way Galaxy in a story that might feature Commander Shepherd, if only in a tangential role But other than that, not much else is gleamed from this trailer.
On the other hand, the story possibilities are endless. Traveling outside the Mass Relay network to another galaxy with possibly different alien threats. Keeping your team and personal resources together in uncharted territory. There are so many ways this idea can work. Best case scenario we get the gaming equivalent of classic Star Trek, boldly going where no one has gone before… and then shooting the unknown in the face with a space rifle. The game is still slated for a 2016 release on PC, PS4, and Xbox One
