It was only a matter of time until Square Enix brought Final Fantasy VI into the Steam store. Well, there is now evidence of this being true. A search on the Pan European Game Information (PEGI) ratings board for Final Fantasy VI shows a PC version cropping up on the 26th of November, 2015.
There’s no word from Square Enix quite yet regarding this listing or which version of the game will make its debut on Steam. If precedence is to be expected, it will follow suit with the recently released Final Fantasy V mobile port back in September. Furthermore, the price will more than likely run for $15.99 USD just like the previous games.
Final Fantasy VI has been ported to numerous platforms in its long existence. Starting from the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, PlayStation, Game Boy Advance and mobile. I’ll have to just go out and address the elephant in the room. The mobile’s version, while causing controversy with its uninspiring character sprites, it showed some great polish with the various monster sprites. Regardless, I would only suggest the mobile version for anybody who does not have access to the various other versions available. It is available for $15.99 in the US iTunes/Google Play store.
