Thanks to Fire Emblem Awakening, the tactical RPG has found its audience in the west. Nintendo has noticed this and it looks like they are taking a page from their Pokemon franchise when it comes to its sequel, Fire Emblem Fates.
Speaking in the latest Nintendo Direct, Nintendo of America’s Bill Trinen explained further. There will be two versions of the game, Fire Emblem Fates Birthright and Fire Emblem Fates Conquest, each one will cover a different side of a major conflict between two warring families. Trinen went on to assure that despite the division of the game’s sides, both games will be fully realized and complete experiences, and given Intelligent Systems’ track record that will most likely be a promise kept. However, Trinen continued with the fact that both games will also get a third downloadable campaign with additional layers of complexity and context given to the entire experience later on, called Fire Emblem Fates Revelation. No price point was given for Revelation, but it was explained that if you bought either Birthright or Conquest physically or digitally, which will retail at the standard $39.99, the other game will be available digitally at a discount of $19.99.
Thankfully, for those who want the entire experience all together, a Special Edition was announced. For the price of $79.99, you get Birthright, Conquest, Revelation when it comes out, and a pretty snazzy looking art book and 3DS holding pouch.
As someone who became a recent fan, I do like the prospect of more Fire Emblem, but this much? Here’s hoping it’s worth such an investment!
