The original Valkyria Chronicles was a cult classic on the PS3 that was followed by two sequels on PSP. Azure Revolution, which is slated for a winter 2016 release on PS4 will be the first current gen iteration of the franchise. A PC re-release of the original Valkyria Chronicles is currently available on Steam.
The Valkyria games take place in an alternate universe version on World War II era Europe. The story of Azure Revolution centers around the discovery of a new mineral, Raganite which has upset the balance of power in the region forcing a small nation to resist colonial aggression.
The developer of the Valkyria series, Sega, has announced three characters for Azure Revolution: Amleth the main protagonist and leader of an elite military unit, Ophelia, princes of the colony State, and Brynhildr a soldier of the colonial power who has defected to the opposing side.
Sega has also announced that Valkyria Chronicles Remastered a version of the original PS3 game. The remaster includes upgraded graphics, all previous DLC, trophy support, a demo of Azure Revolution, and will be released on PS4 in Japan on February 10, 2016.
