Just Cause 3 will run at different resolutions on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One systems.
The project’s director, Roland Lesterlin, revealed in an interview with GamingBolt that Just Cause 3 will render at 1080p on PlayStation 4 while it reaches 900p on Xbox One, but Lesterlin doesn’t believe either version of the game is superior to the other.
“The game runs at 1080p on PS4 and 900p on Xbox One. We do so much with physics and screen space effects, that we are confident our players will thoroughly enjoy themselves no matter the platform they play the game on,” he said.
Multiple games released this year have run at different resolutions on the consoles, mostly reaching 1080p on PS4. Titles include Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Need for Speed. Various games run at 1080p on Xbox One including Halo 5: Guardians and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
Just Cause 3 is releasing on December 1 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. The open-world action adventure game is coming from Avalanche Studios, but after the completion of the title, the developer was forced to layoff a large amount of their team members.
