The New Xbox One Experience is launching to all Xbox One owners on November 12. Leading up to the launch, Larry Hryb — aka Major Nelson — has been releasing a series of videos explaining some of the bigger changes coming in the new update. The most recent video outlines Game Hubs.
“Part of the NXOE is all about connecting developers with fans and fans with developers.” Hyrb said in the latest video with Richard Irving from the Xbox Engineering team. “A great example of connecting fans with developers are the new Game Hubs.”
While the feature was introduced in an update several months ago Game Hubs have been “reimagined” in the New Xbox One Experience according to Irving.
With Game Hubs, players are able to follow specific games in order to receive updates from the developers on changes that are being made, modes that are available to play, and other game specific announcements via the game’s activity feed.
The update also allows players to see what friends own and play the game, giving them the ability to invite people to a party or a gameplay session directly from the Game Hubs page. Previously, gamers had to open the achievements app in order to see which achievements they had or had not unlocked. Now, stats such as Gamerscore, time played, achievements, and game specific stats are all available for view on the page. Leaderboards will now allow players to see how they stack up against their friends.
On November 12, Game Hubs will also launch with GameDVR and screenshot support. Fans who follow a game can now see the most popular clips and photos from the game.
