PlayStation 4 sales have reached 30 million units globally, according to Sony.
It took just over two years for the PS4 console to hit the number, since originally launching on Nov. 15, 2013, continuing its trend of outpacing the PlayStation 2.
Sony says this number of sales from the PS4 “demonstrates the fastest and strongest growth in PlayStation hardware history.”
“We are sincerely grateful that gamers across the globe have continued to choose PS4 as the best place to play since launch two years ago,” said Sony CEO Andrew House.
“We are committed to bringing engaging games and entertainment services to users worldwide. Thanks to the support of our partners, PS4 continues to be the premier platform for game and interactive entertainment innovation,” he continues.
Throughout its lifetime, the PlayStation 2 sold 155 million units over the course of 12 years, yet the PS4 is currently in line to outsell it if the current trend continues.
Sony recently announced price cuts for the system in North America, Australia, Japan and Europe.
