PS4 sales continue to outpace those of the Xbox One, and Sony UK marketing manager Lauren Bradley claims fans of the shooter genre are headed to the PS4 as well.
“This generation, the shooter audience is tending to switch over to PS4,” she said in an interview with MCV. “So we’ve got high expectations for Star Wars Battlefront around both launch and into next year.”
Since the PS4 has launched, Sony has had exclusivity and marketing deals with shooting games such as Destiny, Star Wars Battlefront and Call of Duty: Black Ops III.
Despite these deals, head of Xbox marketing Aaron Greenberg recently stated he believes shooter fans will continue to thrive on the Xbox One.
“If you look at what are the most popular games in the industry; well, today, the number one genre is shooters,” he said. “So if you want to play Halo and Gears of War and Call of Duty and you want to play Battlefront, you’re only going to be able to do that on Xbox One. And so, we feel like we’ll continue to be where more of the core shooter fans continue to play. We’ll continue to be where most of the multiplayer gaming continues to happen.”
