Valve’s plans to release a VR headset with electronics company HTC have been set back to 2016. The HTC Vive had been planned for release before the end of this year.
The HTC Vive was revealed earlier this year and immediately gained massive attention and hype. Though previously expected in time for the holidays, the headset is now expected for April of next year. HTC have released a blog post on Facebook discussing the set back, but have yet to release an official reason, stating only that they ” remain committed to delivering the HTC Vive to a broader group of content creators and partners, and remain focused on delivering the very best experience possible for a consumer release.”
There are already some headsets given to developers in aid of building a third-party line-up in time for release, with another 7,000 promised in the coming year. As for the rest of us, a price range for the new platform has yet to be confirmed.
