The Captain America: Civil War trailer has revealed a new superhero to the mix: T’Challa, aka, The Black Panther. Black Panther is one of Marvel’s first black superheroes and remained extremely popular ever since his creation in the mid 60’s. In the new Marvel film, he will be played by actor Chadwick Boseman.
Captain America: Civil War focuses on the conflict between Iron Man and Cap after a law is passed to register Superhero activity. While we know that T’Challa will be a major part of the story line, there is no word as of how the character will interact with the others. As for his portrayal of the The Black Panther, Boseman has said that it will be very different from the other characters of the film.
During in interview with Entertainment Weekly, he said of the character, “You never quite know where he stands. There’s always a bit of concealing and mystery. So I think mysterious is more his boat. Not to say there’s not charm and he can’t be a ladies’ man and all that. It’s more like if there is humor, it’s more like James Bond.”
Captain America: Civil War is set to be released on May 6, 2016 and The Black Panther standalone movie is set to be released sometime in February 2018 as part of Marvel’s Cinematic Universe.
