After the grand finals of the ‘King of Iron Fist 2015’ event over in Japan, Bandai Namco showed off a brand new update for arcade versions of Tekken 7. Tekken 7: Fated Retribution will feature not just have new costumes, stages and items, but re-introducing old characters into the series. Except for one. Street Fighter’s Akuma. According to the trailer, his role within the confines of the story is a vengeful soul returning the favor to Heihachi’s wife Kazumi Mishima, another new playable character introduced in Tekken 7.
Akuma marks the second crossover character to make their appearance in the Tekken games. The first being Gon, who was already Bandai Namco property. Within the trailer, Akuma appears to have his familiar movesets from the Street Fighter games including his purple hadouken, senpuu kyaku, shoryuken and his famous raging demon.
Tekken 7 was released in Japan on March 18th this year in arcades. The Tekken 7: Fated Retribution update is currently slated for the arcade version. There has yet to be a confirmed western release for both Tekken 7 and the update. However, the game has been confirmed for a PlayStation 4 release already.
