The Game Awards’ producer Geoff Keighley recently announced several celebrity presenters set to participate in Thursday night’s celebration of the video game industry. According to Keighley’s twitter, Mark Hamill, Kiefer Sutherland, and Shaquille O’Neal will present at the event.
Beyond being notable individuals within their respective fields of acting and athletics, these three celebrities also have meaningful ties to the video game industry. Hamill, a prolific voice actor in animation and video games, has a role in Star Citizen. Sutherland was the voice and motion capture actor for Big Boss in Metal Gear Solid V: Phantom Pain which is nominated for The Game Awards’ Game of The Year Award. O’Neal stars in an upcoming game entitled Shaq-Fu: A Legend Reborn which is a spiritual successor to the SNES title Shaq-Fu.
In addition to these three celebrities presenting at The Game Awards,which begins at 6 PM PST / 9 PM EST on Thursday, December 3, Deadmau5 and CHVRCHES will perform during the gaming focused event.
Speaking on Periscope today, Keighley also said he’s hopeful that Hideo Kojima will appear at The Game Awards. However, whether or not he makes it remains to be seen.
“Wish I knew the answer to that,” he said when asked if Kojima would be involved. Keighley added that he is “anxiously awaiting” to find out if Kojima will attend.
