In June, Destiny launched a campaign that encouraged gamers to drink Red Bull in order to receive codes for DLC in the game. As a joke, Dying Light developer Techland encouraged gamers to drink water instead. Now, the developer is releasing DLC for the zombie-horror title based on the joke.
The #DrinkForDLC content announced in September has been detailed, and will come in three parts. All three parts will be water-themed, and will be free. Players will receive an exploration-based quest called The Fountain of Youth that takes place in Old Town, as well as Water 2.0, a blueprint for an electrifying weapon that strengthens other electrical attacks. There will also be parkour challenges designed around the theme of water.
The free DLC will come with Dying Light: The Following – Enhanced Edition when it releases next year. Those who own the original game will get a free update as well as the water-themed DLC content on the same day.
Dying Light is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One. The game’s upcoming expansion, The Following, will release on February 9th, 2016. The expansion will feature a new story campaign, controllable vehicles, and a brand new map for players to explore.
