Released in the run up to the UFC 194 this past weekend, EA took the chance to showcase some of the gorgeous, brutal improvements they are making in EA SPORTS UFC 2. Each video, released on the game’s blog, sees Jose Aldo and Conor McGregor square off, the match ending in either a knockout or a submission.
Though Conor McGregor already won the fight, securing his spot on the cover of UFC 2 right next to the previously revealed Ronda Rousey, the gameplay is still interesting to watch.
The first video is all about the knockout physics. “Take a look at how Conor’s spinning heel kick connects and causes Jose to stumble backwards,” EA said. “With our new physics-driven hit reaction and knockout system, you get more authentic and unique KOs.”
Then comes what EA is calling “next level” submissions. “Pay close attention to how Aldo transitions from a rear naked choke into an armbar to finish the fight. In EA SPORTS UFC 2, you will be able to surprise opponents with a variety of quick transitions to put them into a submission. Additionally, the ability to do standing submissions opens the door to even more ways to finish a fight.”
And finally, there is the new dynamic grappling. “Watch as McGregor tries to land a strike but Aldo’s quick movement allows him to avoid contact and instead, is able to perform a takedown. For the first time in an MMA game, greater independent fighter control allows for more freedom in grappling situations. These interactions result in greater response and variety in the ground game.”
The game is set to release sometime in 2016. What do you think of the new additions to EA SPORTS UFC 2? Do you like how the game looks so far? Let us know in the comments.
