Star Wars Commander, Lucasfilm and Disney’s free-to-play mobile strategy game, will be getting new updates with content from Star Wars: The Force Awakens.
The content update will focus on introducing the planet Takodana, which has featured in trailers for the upcoming next installment to the Star Wars franchise. Players will now be able to both travel to Takodana and take part in battles on its surface in Commander.
The update also brings with it two new Force Awakens-themed mercenary units. Players can pick up the Dowutin Hunter and Luggabeast Munitioneer for their bases. These two units can be received as permanent rewards for completing objectives in this new patch and can be upgraded in exactly the same way others can.
If you struggling for units, Disney has said that everyone else who logs into Star Wars Commander from December 3rd will receive five completely consumable units of both Luggabeast Munitioneers and Dowutin Hunters.
You can find the official descriptions for Commander’s new update below, sourced from GameSpot:
- Luggabeast Munitioneer – Players can hire the armored Luggabeast Munitioneer, based on the cybernetic-enhanced beast of burden inStar Wars: The Force Awakens, to support their massive armies as they apply a damage buff to nearby friendly units.
- Dowutin Hunter – Inspired by a new species unveiled in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Dowutin Hunters are lumbering infantry hired to dispatch enemy defending units with shock and awe, troops and vehicles alike. They carry a grip of thermal detonators and a modified starfighter blaster to ensure that the job gets done
- Planet Takodana – Featuring Maz’s Castle, the planet Takodana is the home to many unaligned scoundrels and provides the perfect setting for new Conflicts in Star Wars: Commander.
Star Wars: The Force Awakens lands in cinemas December 18, and Commander released in August last year and has garnered over 20 millions downloads.
