Blizzard’s MOBA game, Heroes of the Storm, takes players through incredible battles using their favorite Blizzard characters to fight along side their team until victory or defeat. Seeing as how this is an online multiplayer game that has been available for less than a year, you know patches will come and switch things up. I don’t think, however, players expected all of these big changes this week.
In a tweet from the Heroes of the Storm account, it was revealed that some special surprises were coming to the Nexus. They weren’t kidding. Instead of 7 free characters each week, there will now be 10. To balance this out players will earn a new slot for levels 5, 7, 12, and 15. This new feature takes away the once disliked talent gating that had players reaching specific levels for access to more talent choices.
Another new feature added is a recruit-a-friend system. If you refer a friend to the game who then reaches level 10, you will receive a special portrait. If you refer four friends who all reach level 10, you will receive an exclusive Vulture Hover Bike mount. Your recruited friends will also receive rewards such as new characters and XP bonuses as well. Some players have taken issues with this new feature as no one can be recruited after having reached level 5. Clearly this is a motive by Blizzard to get more people playing the game.
Final notes for Heroes of the Storm include a %50 XP bonus from now until December 16th and the black friday sale being extended until the end of the year. What do you think of these big changes? Let us know in the comments.
