Remember when Netherrealm Studios teased an announcement at this year’s Game Awards? Well, you can thank a sneaky individual at NeoGAF for spoiling that exclusive sneak peek, and for that we salute you.
As revealed in a leaked video that has since been pulled from the website, a second Kombat Pack for Mortal Kombat X, priced at $30, would get you four new fighters. Those fighters are Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre, a Xenomorph from Alien, the drunken monk Bo Rai Cho, and a weird amalgamation of the three cyborg fighters Sektor, Cyrax, and Smoke into a creation known as the Tri-Borg.
It’s definitely a credible source based on what’s come before. The last Kombat Pass gave us guest stars like Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees and The Predator, so having another horror movie icon like Leatherface or the disturbing iconic Alien isn’t that far of a stretch. As for the other two characters, Bo Rai Cho was a bit of a joke character, seriously one of his special attacks was vomiting, so I’m not exactly looking forward to see him stumble around again. On the other hand, the Tri-Borg is a great compromise of Mortal Kombat X’s Variation system while also bringing back three of the series’ iconic cyborgs.
All well and good, but I hope the pricepoint is just a placeholder. $30 bucks is a bit much for four new fighters, especially since there are still a bunch of other classic fighters that need to return to the series like Nightwolf, Striker, and Baraka. Either way, Mortal Kombat X is still getting support and that is something Netherrealm must be commended on.
