The sequel to what is credited as the first rhythm action game is set to land on PlayStation 4 on Tuesday, 15 December. That’s according to Sony representatives who confirmed the addition of PaRappa 2 to the PS2 lineup during the most recent PlayStation Blogcast.
In tradition of the PS2 re-releases, the PlayStation 4’s upscaled version of PaRappa the Rapper 2 features 1080p graphics and supports Trophies, along with other features such as Remote Play on Vita and PS4 Share Play. Although no pricing was officially announced, the first wave of PS2 re-releases all sat in the $10-$15 price range, so it’s likely the 2002 rhythm action re-release will be similarly priced.
PlayStation boss Shuhei Yoshida has said that Sony are working ‘tirelessly’ to re-release more PS2 games ‘on a regular basis,’ so you can still experience PS4 backwards compatibility even if you have to re-buy the games you might already own. Along with this statement, Sony have confirmed The King of Fighters 2000 is making a return, and we might be seeing Rockstar’s Max Payne making a reappearance, the though the latter is unconfirmed.
The first wave of PlayStation 2 games to be re-released on Sony’s current-generation consoles launched last weekend, and included highlights like Dark Cloud and Grandd Theft Auto: San Andreas.
